He does not really know what he is getting although in this case he probably bought a parts engine and sold it as a runner. Your supplier has probably bought the motor in good faith as he would use a buying group to source his engines. I would Check the inlet valves for burning. The inlet valve build up is common on japanese import engines as you do not know how they were used (babied usually) and what the fuel quality was like. That engine sustained most of the damage to the front in an accident.Īs stated cast iron will get rusty as most of these engines have sat outside in the weather for sometime (years). This water infested long block is not worth $1,100. I've seen many JDM engines with everything intact. Not everyone does thing the way you stated. I may have been naive when I thought $1,100 gets you a good condition motor. The thing that bothers me most is there's water in the engine and they never informed me of any bent parts. I'm in the process of doing it and I was aware of this. and run it.a full rebuild on your motor would cost more I went thru this with a Nissan motor years ago.everything on the outside had to be switched over.Įdit: just looked at the videos.the broken /bent parts are pretty much what I would expect on a motor that came from a WRECKED car.the PS pump is an accessory.not a motor part.same for the temp sensor on the back of the block.when motors are removed from wrecks, the guys just cut things loose.have you ever spent any time in a salvage yard?.those guys get paid to remove major components.not every little clip and sensor connection.sawzall and cutting torch are major tools of the trade.external rust?.get over it.I have parts that are stored in a shed that have more rust than that.as for the gunk on the intake side?.take a look at your motor when you take it out.probably looks worse. Typically a used JDM motor will require swapping external parts from the old motor in order to make it work on a US market car.intake, exhaust and some sensors are the usual parts.the thing about the JDM motors is that you are buying a low mileage block and head.nobody ever said that the JDM motor was plug and play.they are not.and it requires a certain amount of knowledge to get them to work properly.
